Action Plan for SyMM Office, Eparchies and Parishes
Directions on Common Programme
1) Circular of the Major Archbishop (Chancery) to be sent by 10th Sept. 2026 and to be read in the parishes on 20th Sept. 2026. The circular is to be published through social media networks of the Church and the eparchies for a week.
2) The Mission Month Action Plan, sent ny 10th Sept. 2026 by the Commission Chairman from the SyMM Office shall thereafter be discussed by the Eparchial Commission for Evangelization. The Curia, together with the Eparchial Commission for Evangelization or at least its Director, shall undertake discernment and formulate a Concrete Action Plan to be completed before 20 September 2026.
3) This Concrete Action Plan shall be communicated to the parishes, religious communities, seminaries, and lay movements no later than 27 September 2026, and a copy thereof shall be forwarded to the SyMM Office by 30 September 2026. Furthermore, the Eparchial Directors shall submit to the SyMM Office a comprehensive list of the activities conducted during Mission Month by 15 November 2026.
4) Prayer Card and Common Action Plan Card for all the families and family units, Karozusa Prayer for the parish communities for the celebration of Holy Qurbana, Poster for the parish Notice boards (prepared by the SyMM Office), to be sent to the Directors by 15th Sept. 2026. The Directors make arrangements for printing and distributing to the parishes, religious communities, seminaries, and other places for intercession before 27th Sept. 2026.
5) Inauguration of the Mission Month in the Major Archiepiscopal Curia by the Major Archbishop and others (SyMM office) by 01st October 2026.
6) Inauguration of the Mission Month, if possible, on 01st Oct. 2026 in the eparchies by the Eparchial Bishops, and Parish priests in the parishes and by the Directors in the Institutions. If not possible on the 01st Oct., it may be done on or before 4th Oct. 2026.
7) Daily Sharing of “A Minute on Mission” prepared for 31 days of mission month (SyMM office) to be published by social media networks (Eparchies).
8) Syro-Malabar Vision of Mission Month (SyMM office and Curia) and sermon tips for four Sundays on the themes of the mission weeks (SyMM Office and Curia).
9) Make use the module prepared for the mission month (SyMM Office) throughout the Kudumba koottayma (parishes and family units), developed on this theme.
10) Connect with the media network groups of the Eparchies and publish the items that are to be circulated about the Mission Month.
11) Publish the circular of the major archbishop and other materials in the Eparchial news bulletin and other media networks.
12) Give a wide publicity about Jeevan Jyothi in the Eparchial news bulletin and other media networks with the involvement of the Laity.
Week 1: Mission of the Universal Church
1) Video on the Mission Month from the Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church and make it available to all (SyMM Office).
2) Video on the Mission Sunday theme of Pope Leo XIV and make it available to all before 07th October 2026 (SyMM Office)
3) Prepare a sharing of one missionary from your Eparchy who is engaged in the mission work overseas and share the testimony (Eparchial office).
4) Gift a Bible or be part of the BAI Project campaign that ensures all our countrymen have a Bible (Eparchial office).
5) Recite the whole Rosary or at least a decade for the intentions of the world mission (Eparchial office).
6) Ask the children and youth to spare some money in the whole month and share it on the mission Sunday collection (Eparchial office).
7) Ensure that there is a team in the Eparchy and in the parish to carry out all the activities of the Mission Month (Eparchial Office).
Week 2: Syro-Malabar Mission Focus
1) One video sharing on the Mission of the Syro-Malabar Church of the Commission Chairman to be sent to all before 11th October 2026 (SyMM Office).
2) Give formation to the elderly lay persons and encourage them for personal sharing of Christ workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods (Eparchies).
3) Launch social media reels and short videos highlighting Syro-Malabar missionary initiatives (by the Mission office of the Eparchies).
4) Share testimonies of missionaries working in India through parish gatherings and digital platforms (initiatives of the parish priests).
5) Popularise on the Mission Quest and other Mission Projects of the Church to the People (Eparchies and parish priests).
6) Plan a mission visit to the mission area of the Syro-Malabar Church or of the Eparchy and discuss how the missionary partnership could be strengthened (Eparchy).
7) Ask the children and youth to do some sacrifices for the suffering and dying for the faith and mission (parish priests).
Week 3: Eparchial Mission Engagement
1) Video on the Mission Month and Jeevan Jyothi from the Eparchial Bishops to the faithful of the Eparchy (Eparchy).
2) Conduct seminars, talks or classes on the missionary activities of the Syro-Malabar Church and of the Eparchy, especially on the Evangelisation and missio ad gentes (Eparchy).
3) Mission Sunday Collection: Sunday, October 18, 2026 (Eparchy and Parishes).
4) Train lay volunteers through short workshops in person-to-person evangelization (Eparchy and parishes).
5) Inaugurate the Jeevan Jyothi in Eparchial level, gathering all the lay missionaries of the Eparchy, even if they are part of other missionary organization.
6) Prepare a missionary bank (old-present-future) of the personnel from the Priests, Religious and the Lay persons to strengthen the Eparchial Mission (Eparchy).
7) Ensure a clear mission adoption is done by the Eparchy with fidei donum concept of the universal church (Eparchy).
Week 4: Parish Mission Mobilization
1) Invite missionaries: priests, sisters or lay persons to share experiences in parish assemblies, youth sessions and catechism class rooms (parishes).
2) Honor parish level missionaries: priests, sisters or lay persons during Sunday liturgy (parishes).
3) Encourage missionary vocations among seminarians, catechists, and youth (parishes).
4) Organize parish annual retreats on missionary themes, emphasizing the call of every baptized to evangelize, if not the whole retreat, at least some talks (parishes).
5) Establish missionary diaries for parishioners to record daily acts of evangelization (parishes).
6) Organize a Holy Qurbana or a cultural event for the guest workers as a mission work of the parish (parishes).
7) Discuss in the higher bodies about the mission of the parish, either a parish mission inside the parish or partnering a mission in the mission territory (parishes).
Long Term Plans
I. Launch a mission-friendly mobile app to share updates, testimonies, and needs of the mission (SyMM office).
II. Encourage youth and children to create reels, podcasts, and blogs on missionary life and evangelization themes and promote respectful Gospel sharing in digital spaces by individuals
and groups in different languages (Eparchies). The best reels or short film get awards on Missionary themes (from Bible, Apostolic times, saints, and the modern times (SyMM office and Eparchies).
III. Prepare documentaries of missionary models from apostolic times to modern times of the priests, religious especially of the laity with inspiring style (SyMM office and Eparchies).
